Five Minute Friday: See

Five Minute Friday

It's been a really, really long time.  I've been blind to a lot.  Who and what people really are, who and what I really am.  I've spent a lot of the past few years being completely and utterly blind to so much.

In many ways, I think I always have been.  I've always wanted to believe in the goodness and the potential that resides in people.  Very rarely have I not believed that I saw some kind of goodness, kindness or positive quality in someone.
But now, while I would never for one second deny the existence of the good qualities that some people have, I'm really starting to see things for what they really are.  I'm seeing a game for what it is, instead of seeing as a challenge or being forced to defend myself.   I'm seeing things people to do manipulate others and it bothers me.

It's not all "bad" things.  I'm seeing signs....signs that I'm not alone.  Signs that something greater than I am is watching, guiding, pushing and driving me to who, what, where and when.  It's been a long time since I quit fighting being in control, and quit trying to have my way long enough to just be silent and listen.  And while everything in my life right now still feels turned upside down, for the most part I feel peaceful inside.   I can't believe I had forgotten this feeling...this feeling that if I stop talking, wait, and look...I'll see it.  I'll see the direction I'm supposed to talk and the path I'm supposed to follow.

And one more thing, my favorite question:

When you dream, do you dream in color?  Do you really see the color in your mind or do you just know what color it is?

  1. Hello, I found your blog after linking up for my first FMF. I find it hard to let go of my need to control things. Take for instance this challenge...I spent precious seconds back-spacing when I could have just left the typos and written more. Great post.

    1. It is what it is. It is a process. It can be a challenge. I usually write more than 5 minutes. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Love this post, thank you for writing it.
